The
Musengezi River cuts its way through the mountains of the Mavuradona Wilderness
Area before flowing across the flat Zambezi valley into Lake Cahora Bassa. This
600 sq. km area of valuable Zambezi escarpment flora and fauna is protected
by local people who benefit from sustainable sales of its wildlife resource
and from tourism facilities established there under a community natural resource
management scheme in which the Zambezi Society plays an active role.
